This Date in History: R.E.M. records together for first time

On this date in history, R.E.M. recorded together for the first time in Bombay Studios in Smyrna, Georgia. Does anybody know where Bombay Studios used to be located? Steve would like to STAND in the place where they recorded…
February 8th, 1981 was the first time Mike Mills, Bill Berry, Peter Buck and Michael Stipe all recorded together. Their first recording session was in Bombay Studios located somewhere in Smyrna, Georgia. Producer Mitch Easter worked with the band at Bombay to record “Radio Free Europe,” “Don’t Go Back To Rockville,” “Sitting Still,” “White Tornado,” and several other tracks that would appear on R.E.M.’s first album “Murmur.” Easter was crucial in helping R.E.M. develop their sound in R.E.M.’s early years. The band went to Easter’s Drive-In Studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to re-record their debut single “Radio Free Europe” and finish other songs. Although the Bombay Studio sessions were never released, Mitch Easter says he still has the original Bombay sessions at his Drive-In studio.
