Abbey Road
The cover of The Beatles’ Abbey Road is an iconic image in popular culture, but now a variation on that photo is up for sale. A rare photo of the Beatles walking in the opposite direction from the original album cover on Abbey Road may fetch around $16,000 (£10,000) at an auction on May 22. It is one of only six pictures taken during the shoot by photographer Iain McMillan.more

In Dark Shadows, the latest collaboration between Johnny Deep and director Tim Burton, Alice Cooper adds a sense of authenticity to the vampire comedy set in 1972. Although Cooper’s single “No More Mr. Nice Guy” wasn’t released until 1973, the iconic shock-rocker performs the hit, as well as his 1971 song “Ballad of Dwight Fry,” in the film. However, Cooper’s cameo in Dark Shadows is far from his first. Let’s revisit Cooper’s past appearances on the silver screen throughout the last 40+ years.

There have probably been many songs penned sitting on fire escapes, but one of the more famous ones is a song by Elvis Costello. An Oregon couple, their children and nephew have paid their respects to Adam “MCA” Yauch with a viral video that the late filmmaker/musician would surely have approved of. Portland, Oregon based filmmaker James Winter posted the tribute to The Beastie Boys’ 1994 Spike Jonze-directed clip “Sabotage,” including wigs, fake mustaches, (presumably) fake guns and over-the-top cop-show action (which, in the original video, paid tribute to ’70s TV police dramas).

Starting with Tony Iommi’s sudden lymphoma diagnosis in January, it’s not been so easy for Black Sabbath’s original members to get the old band back together. And the reunion roadblocks just keep coming. Drummer Bill Ward, who, in February, threatened to back out of the Sabbath reunion unless he was presented with a “signable contract” from management, has done just that.more
