Bruce and The Stone Pony

Every musician gets their start somewhere and for Bruce Springsteen, it was The Stone Pony.
The Stone Pony, which opened in Asbury Park, NJ in 1974, boasts launching many artists as well as Bruce, such as Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and Bon Jovi. Many of rock’s biggest artists have played on its stage, giving the venue its place in rock history.
Bruce Springsteen Still RockingIts fate was threatened in the late 1990s, as the popularity of clubs with live music declined and developers targeted Asbury Park. Musicians and patrons rallied in support and the club was saved, renovated and updated with state of the art lighting and sound equipment, an exhibition of art and artifacts, and an outdoor area facing the Atlantic Ocean with a beach motif, tenting and food facility.
